Cameron Barney advises EV Chargers Ltd on securing a £165m commitment from Denham Sustainable Infrastructure to roll out c.100,000 electric vehicle charge points across the UK

February 2023

Cameron Barney LLP is pleased to announce that it acted as exclusive financial advisor to EV Chargers Ltd (‘EVC’) in securing a £165m commitment from Denham Sustainable Infrastructure. The investment will be used to accelerate EVC’s ambition to deliver up to 100,000 EV charge points across the UK by 2027 and secure portfolio opportunities with multi-site landlords.

EVC’s focus is on providing convenient, practical, and reliable ‘destination’ charging options for its customer base. EVC funds and installs EV charge points, under long-term contractual lease agreements, at ‘destinations’ such as hospitality, leisure, and retail venues, workplaces, and multi-dwelling residential units.

EVC was founded in early 2020 and has attracted a significant number of well-known customers under long-term lease agreements. To date, the Company has been funded by Oasthouse Ventures, James Randall, Lucky Gohler, and through capital raised in 2022 from high-net-worth individuals. The partnership with Denham Sustainable Infrastructure will propel EVC to the next phase of its growth.

Obtaining one of the largest financial commitments in our industry to fund EV charging infrastructure in the UK will turbocharge our ability to provide businesses and customers with the confidence to make the switch and join the electric vehicle revolution. Cameron Barney’s advice and guidance have been instrumental in supporting EVC from its early development through to obtaining this significant commitment.
— Nick Ballamy, CEO, EV Chargers Ltd said:

Cameron Barney has worked closely with EVC over an extended period of time leading up to this significant financing commitment. This has included providing support in coordinating an SPV-level capital expenditure facility from Abundance Investment, arranging private investment from a network of high-net-worth individuals and support in the build-out of the Company’s management team.

We are delighted to have successfully obtained a significant financial commitment to fund EVC’s ambitious EV charging infrastructure roll-out plan. This enables the Company to deliver its business plan with the assistance of a supportive and knowledgeable investor. Having worked with EVC from its early development it is clear that this significant financial commitment will reinforce the Company’s position as a market leader in the EV charging sector.
