Cameron Barney advises Gigaclear on £25 Million Loan from the EIB

December 2015

Cameron Barney acted as financial adviser to Gigaclear plc.

Cameron Barney is pleased to announce that it acted as financial adviser to Gigaclear plc in obtaining a €25mn 12 year loan from the European Investment Bank (“EIB”).

Headquartered in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, Gigaclear is the foremost provider of fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) internet services to UK rural communities.

This loan, in conjunction with grants and the significant equity sums committed by Prudential Greenfield and Woodford Investment Management, amongst others, brings over £75 million of capital to the roll-out of FTTP infrastructure to rural areas by Gigaclear.

We are very pleased to have advised Gigaclear on this transaction, which is the eleventh fundraising arranged for the Company by Cameron Barney. This is the first loan by the European Investment Bank into this sector in the UK and demonstrates the increasing maturity of the internet infrastructure sector as an investment opportunity.
— Brian Robertson, Partner, Cameron Barney

This transaction underscores Cameron Barney’s commitment to funding the UK alternative network sector and its continued leadership in advising fibre infrastructure and enterprise communications providers on key strategic transactions.
