Cameron Barney advises Spectrum on its sale to Infracapital and financing to roll-out FTTP across South Wales

October 2020

Spectrum, the Cardiff based broadband service provider, today announced a landmark investment from Infracapital, the infrastructure investment arm of M&G Plc and one of Europe’s leading infrastructure investors. The financing enables Spectrum to push forward with its phase 1 plan to roll out FTTP to over 150,000 residential and business premises across towns and villages in South Wales and develop its core fibre infrastructure via its exclusive Trunk Road Concession agreement with Welsh Government.

Peter Norris, Partner of Cameron Barney, commented: “This is an important investment into Welsh broadband infrastructure, during a difficult period, which will bring great benefits to its people and economy.  Cameron Barney is proud to have played its part by advising Spectrum in this transaction and looks forward to continuing to work with the Company and its stakeholders in the region.  The Spectrum team is top-notch and confident in their goal to become the default operator in the region over time.”

Cameron Barney is perhaps the most experienced UK investment bank providing advice in this sector. It has been a pleasure working with the CB team and Infracapital towards securing this investment. With their support we aim to be Wales’s biggest and best homegrown broadband service provider, and a key contributor to helping shape the future Welsh economy.
